BURR RIDGE, ILLINOIS

Rante

A warm contemporary midwest chalet as welcoming to friends and family as it is to the surrounding views.

A mountain lodge nestled comfortably in the midwest

We knew when we first set eyes on the beautiful property in Burr Ridge, Illinois, and grasped the Rante family's vision that this would be a special project.  Mirroring their warmth, openness, and authenticity, they chose natural wood tones, wide open views, and genuine old growth lumber in their design. The architectural elements, installation materials, furniture, and lumber selections reflect not only a mountain lodge aesthetic, but also the unique character and personality of the Rante family.

Working alongside John and Kelly Rante, the collaborative style of Stillwater Architects and Dave Knecht Homes produced a stunning end result. Heritage Beam and Board provided custom exterior board and batten siding, high character reclaimed hardwood floors throughout including herringbone and chevron design, mixed mosaic ceiling cladding. custom barn doors, bar and island tops, fireplace mantels, and a copper stitch dining table, all of which are ingrained with the warmth and significance that can only come from storied lumber.

The real measure of success lies in how well the house represents the family and how it ties them to their surroundings. With spaces and selections being highly intentional, the Rantes sought authenticity paired with meaning by choosing a rustic elegance that is both welcoming and elevated. They are not only comfortable in their home, but it is an extension of who they are and what they value most: connection with family and friends, creating a genuine life, and achieving peaceful balance in their home.
